I am obsessed with Frogs. If you walk by my office, you will see signs and statues; if you enter the office, it will look like a swamp. Years ago, I read a frog story which includes the fairy tale of the frog-prince. The story had a profound impact on me. In some forms of psychology there is the understanding that people who are traumatized by painful events experience an "affective disorder." Life beats them down and up and they are wounded emotionally and spiritually. They feel like "losers-frogs." Then with therapy, faith and friendship they are brought back to health and new life becoming "winners-princes." My calling as a pastor is to help frogs become princes and princesses. The purpose of a church is to turn frogs into princes and princesses. As an interim pastor my callilng is to help "froggish churches" become dynamic fellowships of faith and communities of love. Anyway, there is some importance and meaning to my frog problem. You have to decide whether my frogs are a plague or a symbol of great potential. When I "croak" it is a sound of new life, not death.
